PROFESSOR SCOTT.
PRESENTATION FROM OLD STUDENTS. Professor B. «T. Scott-, late director of the Canterbury College School of Engineering, was entertained at a complimentary dinner yesterday by a number of his old students who had gathered fro mmany different places. Among those present were Messrs T. B. Burt (in the chair). J. E. L. Cull, R. A. Cree Brown'(lndia), S. Steel. E. F. Stead, -T. G. Lancaster. R. A Campbell, C. C. Coates, G. Bell (Auckland), F. P. Turner. F. Langbein C A. Walker, W. L. Moore (Wellington)'. P. I<rver, B. Easton (Wairoa), C. .F. Matthews (Australia), S. H. Jenkinson (Wellington), L. Bowen (Singapore), and E. G. Foster. The chairman presented Professor Scott with a cheque and an illuminated address which bore the signatures of eighty of his former students. Professor Scott, in reply, said he did not know how to thank his old students adequately for their kindness in coming from far and near to meet him. It was a great satisfaction to know that his work was appreciated. The School of Engineering would require very careful guidance in the future. and he suggested the formation of an Old Students’ Association. The old students had shown sufficient interest in their professor to come long <lrstances, and to send messages from all parts of the world. Let them unite to support the school he was now leaving. (Applause.) A number of toasts were honoured, all the speakers supporting the idea of forming an Old Students’ Association.
