ROWING.

INTER-COLLEGE FOURS. The annual inter-collcgc four-oared race took place at Corsair Bay this morning. Three crews competed, Wanganui, last year’s winners, Christ’s College and Boys’ High School. The course, a mile, was a straight one, running from off the Rapaki .jetty to the point at Corsair Bay. The Avater was choppy and there was a fairly strong south-west wind, Avhich rather furexperienced about 10.25 a.m.. but luckily it soon blew over though the Avind was rapidly freshening. There Avas a large eroAvd of supporters anil followers of rowing Avho Avitnessed the race from the Coxsaid Bay Point, many of whom made the trip to Lyttelton by motor. The race did not start until 11.30. or an hour late. The officials were: Umpire. N. L. M’Beth; judge, F. I. CoAvlisliaw. starter, J .Pago. College dreAv the inside position. Boys' High School centre, and Wanganui College Wanganui from the start gained a lead which they maintained, and had little difficulty in keeping. At the Quarter distance they had a lead of about four lengths. High School and College being equal, with the latter. School then appeared to tire and dropped back about a length. At the half distance Wanganui

was about three lengths in the lead. Colletro challenged, but Wanganui responded, and won comfortablv by five lengths from College, with School a poor third. five lengths behind Christ’s Cnloge. All the crews suffered from the choppy condition of the water and much Avater was shipped by the Wanganui bout. The results were as follow: Wanganui College (11. D. Blythe (list filb) bow, B. L.
