BANKS PENINSULA RABBIT BOARD.
The Banks Peninsula Rabbit Board met on Wednesday last; present—Messrs H. A. Nutt (chairman), John Parkinson, P. R. H. Gardiner, Win. Menzies and J. O. Coop. The minutes of last meeting were read and oonfirmed. Rates, etc., amounting to £43 9s 5d were received during the month. Mr Gardiner reported that the posts would be carted any day to be held in readiness for repairing fence. On the proposal of Messrs Coop and Gardiner, the chairman and secretary were asked to ( obtain information regarding moulds for making concrete posts. Letters were read from the Banks Peninsula Electric Power Board, stating the .switch clocks at the gates had been installed and were operating satisfactorily: from the Akaroa County Council, advising the recommendation of the conference concerning the reduction in wages. It was decide*! to write to the Agricultural Department to notify occupiers who had gorse on their properties to clear same and aid the destruction of the rabbits. A letter expressing the sympathv of the board was sent to Mr J. C. C. Gebbie. who is at present in a private hospital. The inspectors’ reports were read and considered, and both gave their experiences with the gas halls and agreed they were not effective in capacious burrows. Tt was arranged to visit Ouail Island on December 21 with Mr M'Kenize. Accounts for payment £6l 15s 3d were passed.
