A cable message from Suva, state* that Mr George Freear Graham has been elected Mayor of Sura, and Mr David Jaffa Solomon Mayor of Levuka, both unanimously.
The Christchurch Orchestral Society announces an extraordinarily attractive programme to be gven by its full orchestra of sixty performers in the Liberty Theatre to-morrow evening, commencing at 8.15. Popular numbers will bo given, includng the overture to the “ Barbier de Seville ” (Rossini); “Martha’’ (Flo tow) ; incidental music from “ Henry the Eighth ” (euphonium soloist. Mr A. Martin); “ Humoresko (Dvorak); “ Valse Tri ste ” (Sibelius), gavotte from “ Mignon ” (Thomas); Triumphal March. ‘Cleopatra ” (Manciiielli) ; tone poem. “ Finlandia” (Sibelius) : “March of the Prophets” (Meyerbeer). The soloist will be Miss Lillian Hanham. who will sing some of her most popular numbers. Admission will be by silver coin.
