It is semi-officially stated that the resignation of the Government will not affect Germany's reparation programme. as outlined in Tuesday’s Note i i the Com mission. The Socialists’ refusal to co-operate •o it 1) the People's Party was embodied in a resolution, carried by a two-thirds majority, declaring that they, could only participate in ihe Cabinet by persistently pursuing a policy for the si-abilisntion of the mark, which is a most urge’, requirement. The People’s Party have .-o far not given a guarantee of such a policy. President Ebert requested the Government to temporarily carry on till to-day. whe*j he confers with the .Socialist', and non-Socialists. Dr Mirth, in a statement, said he had hoped to form a great coalition, since the note to the Reparation Commission had been accepted by all parties except the Socialists. But the latter having refused, it became an urgent matter to settle the future external policy.
