PatersoM moved an amendment that the council should take no steps iu the matter- He said that the men who bad been trained at the Sookburn aerodrome during the war rociniirrvS another three or four months’ 'training in England before they could proceed '<» the front. In any case he did not think we would see another groat war hi our time. The aerodrome would cost the Government thousands a year. Mr C. E. Cross took exception to Mr Paterson’s remarks. He said that the men who had found the money to start the Sockbum aerodrome deserved great credit for their patriotic work, ile supposed that during the war a buudred men bad been, trained at Sockhum and sent to the front and nil these men had done credit to their •ountry. So one wanted to see another war. but- we should be prepared, because tlie country which was prepared came out best. Mr Paterson : Who was prepared for Tlie late* war? Germany, not the other nations. Mr Cross: Yes, but it took practically the whole world to beat Germany. Mr J. Seymour said he would support the motion. The motion was then put and carried without any dissentient voices.
