I COLLEGE HOUSE DEFEATS ROLLESTON HOUSE. j Rolleston House and College House, tho rival houses of Canterbury College, played their annual football match on Saturday afternoon. There was a large crowd of iu terestod spectators, and a fast and willing game resulted. There were a number of minor accidents, among the victims being J. W. Calder, captain of College House; J. Earl and H. Crabb, Rolleston House. College House set up an attack from the kick-off. and their backs showed good combination. Rolleston House, however, drew first blood, Acheson scoring as the result of a good passing rush. Rolleston House 3. College House 0. Very even play followed until Te Awaran secured the ball about half-way. He heat several men in a fine corkscrew run. and Hine. following up well, gathered in Te Awarau's pass and crossed the line. T3ie kick failed. Halftime came soon afterwards with the Rolleston House 3, College House 3. On resuming, Rolleston House indulged in gome 'dangerous loose rushes, and eventually Edmonson scored. Rolleston House 6. College House 3. Rolleston House sustained the attack, but- Stewart infringed after Bennett bad made a great run. The latter took the resultant penalty and placed a good goal. Rolleston House 6. College House 6. Excitement was now intense, and both aides were making plav very willing. The College House forwards invaded their opponents’ twenty-five, where Hobbs just managed to gather the hall and score a smart try. The annual Rugby football match be» tween the combined bank staffs of Christchurch and Wellington was held at the Show Grounds this morning. The weather wa,s very warm, but the men enjoyed the good spirit in which ilie fixture was contested. The game was fairly even throughout, but little combination was seen. Wellington hod the best of the scrums, the hookers. Grey and Loftus, getting the ball nearly every time. At half-time tho score stood at five to nil in favour of Wellington. X. Conder, by good following up finished by a tackle, gained possession and got over, and Hume converted. “Within a few minutes of resumption Melville opened Christchurch's account by an unconverted try. and this was followed soon after by Rodger** scoring and Brown adding the extra points. Allison next intercepted a pass inside his twenty-five, and after a sprint scored. Canterbury were on the defensive for a time, during which Green potted a- neat goal for Wellington. There was no further score, and Christchurch thus won by 11 points to 9. For Canterbury Brown and Rodgers (five-eighths), Melville (half), Allison (wing three-quarter). Morris and M Gibbon (forwards) were conspicuous. Hume (centre three-quarter) w-ap very safe for the visiting combination. and others worth mentioning on his side were Conder. Taylor, MOracken, Greig, Grey and Loftus. The Y.M.C.A. third grade A Rugby team has the record of having scored 133 point®, with 16 points scored against it, in competition football this season. Tn four matches alone 66 points were scored hv the team. The first defeat in three years was met with this season, when the Spreydoo team was encountered in a north-west gale. The T.M.O.A. team has again won tlie third grade competition, the third grade knock-out. cun and the sis-a-sir 1 :’ tournament medals. The goal-kn icking performance this season is said to be a record for New Zealand.
