Mr S. C. Willis, who has been manager of the demonstration farm at A von head for twx> and a half years, i has resigned that, position in order to commence business on hi.*; own account. A press telegraan announces the death on Saturday, at the age of 79, of M3* Walter Irving, the oldest Reeftot* resident. Deceased arrived in Reettan in 1866, and was several times, county chairman and a member of the council since rta inception. An old resident of Shirley passed away yesterday in the person of Mr Daniel P&nkh'irßfc, in his ninetieth i year. The late Mr Paukhurst had. re--1 aided in the district- for forty-five years. He was born in Kent in 1833. He came to the colonies in 1854, and took part, in the Gabriel’s Gully gold rush. He was n keen chess player and angler. He leaves a family of one son and two daughters. rr-.
