The roads Mere ir. better condition than 1 have ever j seen them before, and the a ace is now i like a pleasure ride. The Mater-races, ; which used, to be our great annoyance, ( have been mostly covered up, and we j were saved a good deal oi discomfort on j that account. I had to ride through ; about three water-races only over* the whole distance. The head Mind Mas solid all the way, and was our greatest i handicap. A. Bonis (2ymin) wa.s the j first man we caught up. He had had two punctures before we met him at. Winchester. He continued with us— Shalders and I—until we reached the Marotnan Road, where he had another puncture. We next picked up A. Sut ton (Gi6borae) t but we passed very few other riders before reaching Ashburton.
