The matter was discussed at a conference at Ashburton yesterday between the North, Mid, and South Canterbury Executives of the Farmers’ Union and the threshing mill owners. The foil awing resolutions were carried : ‘‘That threshing mill owners be asked to apply to the Arbitration Court for a reduction in the rates of wages, nnd that the Mid and North Canterbury executives ol the nr.ion apply for the right to be heard as third i>arties ; that in view of the unsatisfactory position of the grain industry this conference is of opinion that the cost of threshing should not exceed l£d per bushel net lor wheat from stacks, and 2Jd for oats.”
