Fritz Hugo Dolling, the late steward of the Petone | Working Men’s Club and now a tobac- | conist at Petone, Robert Henry Jones, ! of Petone. an ex-railwav workshop emj ployee, and James Reddett, a barman I of Petone, were charged Petone ; with keeping a common gaming house, j Phillips and Fauchelle pleaded guilty 1 and were fined £75. Reddett and I Jones also pleaded guilty and were fin- | ed £SO. Dolling pleaded not guilty, j Evidence was given of bets made with ; Dolling, in whose premises a sound—i proof telephone booth had been instalj led. Mr F. K. Hunt, SAP., reserved j his decision. j M oreta Jones, who was charged with j being found on the premises of one of • the accused, was dismissed, as there was no evidence of any unlawful purpose. Ernest Henry Gardiner was charged with frequenting Jackson Street for the purpose of betting. In his case decision was reserved.
