TURKISH INCURSIONS.
INDIA’S NORTHERN FRONTIER. ANXIETY ON THE POSITION By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright The Times ” Service. (Received September 8, 12.40 p.m.) LONDON. September 7. The Air Force ami British Indian troops, on the northern frontier, are trying to stem the incursions of Turkish bands from Kurdistan. The Imperial forces have evacuated the Sulimaniyek and Rania areas, and the outlook undoubtedly is. serious owing to the paucity of Imperial troops. The 55th Battalion of Rifles recently arrived from India were ordered immediately to the scene of operations. Additional anxiety is due to t.lie unrest among the Kurds, who are reinforced, by bauds of Turkish troops. At the present there is no evidencethat the Angora Government Is connected with the Turkish incursions, but the collapse of the Greeks in Asia Minor, which will give the Kemalists an opportunity for new adventures, is arousing anxiety in Irak.
