VARSITY FOOTBALL.

TO-MORROW’S CONTEST. GOOD CAME EXPECTED. The in ter-’Varsity match between Sydney and Canterbury at Lancaster Park tomorrow afternoon is expected to produce a- fast and bright exhibition of football. Although the present Sydney team is perhaps not quite os good as the combination which visited the Dominion in 1920. on the whole it is a good side, and the members have a reputation for playing fast. open football. They have plenty of pace both in the backs and forwards. The Canterbury College team also play football of the open type, and they proved themselves a- good side towards tii© close of the club competition this year. ' Since their arrival in New Zealand the Sydney team have played four matches and have won only one. that against Auckland 1 niversity. The following is the record of their tour to date : August 23—Beat Auckland 'Varsity by 20 points to 9. August 20— Lost to New Zealand 'Varsity at Auckland. 22 points to 23. September 2—Lo«t to New Zealand 'Varsitv at Dunedin, 11 points to 21. September 6—Lost to Otago ? \arsity 9 points to 35. Points for, 02: points against, 88. This record is not an especially good one. but for all that it is expected in football circles that Canterbury College will have to go all out to-morrow to beat the visitors.
