PRESIDENT’S OFFER TO RESIGN. IN FAVOUR OF SUN YAT SEN By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright A ustralian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received August 24, 9.15 a.m.) PEKIN, August 23. President Li Yuan Hung has announced his willingness to resign in favour of Dr Sun Yat Sen provided the Parliament approves. Representatives of the Pekin Administration have been sent to Shanghai to negotiate with Dr Sun, with a view to reuniting China under one Government. They have urged him to go to Pekin. Dr Sun has refused, until the various military factions have composeel their differences. Consequently Chang Tso Lin. Governor of Manchuria, and Wu Pei Fu, are negotiating for a settlement. A previous message stated that Dr Sun Yat Sen had arived at Shanghai. He had conferred with the National political leaders and members of the Kuo ining-tang clans, favouring t>eaceful unification of China on a constitutional basis. Dr Sun issued a statement that when Parliament was functioning unfettered the unification was accomplished. He was prepared to abide by Parliament’s decision.
