The purchaser was -Mr J. 1- Webb, of Christ church. 'Hit- New York Natural History Mu-se-.ini has sent- to Canterbury Museum several specimens of frogs that live in cold waters near glaciers in Western North America far comparison with native frogs to Now Zealand, to which thev ore related. Ihe New ork Museum also has sent, in exchange, a oast of the “ gila monster,” a lizard-like reptile, about twelve inches long, with a peculiar pink skin, covered with black n arkings. The reptile as a native of New Mexico and Orizona. Mr 1\ . 1.. I’arham has sent a hornet from Fiji, and Mr F. S. Gourlav has presented t specimens of type Lc pidoptera.
