THE COMING ROAD RACE.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. A meeting of the executive of the North Canterbury Centre ol the New Zealand Athletic and Cycling Union was held on Saturday evening to make further ar- ; rnngemeiits for the Timarji to Christchurch I road race. The. following were present:— | Messrs W. J. Walter (chairman', G. IlenS derson,. J. M. Coffey. J. C. Mackie and P. C Lucas (secretary). The secretary was instructed to write to Mr 11. .J. Conway, asking him to take j charge of the arrangements at Dunsandel. The following were appointed superintendents at the towns through which the race 1 will pass:—Timaru. Mr W. Hall: Tgmuka. Mr W. F. Evans: Geraldine. Mr a. Kennedy Rangitata, Mr . M Donald ; Ashburton. Mr J. Henderson; Rakaia. Mr G. (.'omric. The Chri-1 church officials were appointed as follows Referee. It was decided that the prizes should in* presented tii s- concf*vf to be held on the night of the race, the arrangements for which were left over until a | future meeting. An endeavour was being made to secure J Canterbury Park for the finish of the race, ! the following events were decided on:— Schoolboys' cycle race (open to boys attending pri nary schools), one mile; boys' cycle race (under eighteen rears), one mile; open cycle handicap, one mile and, a half; 1(K yards flat handicap (open): 220 yards handicap <o.,en). The prizes to he trophies, and all event- to he post entry.
