The House of Representatives agreed to the ratification of the Washington treaties on the voices. Mr Hughes, who moved the ratification of the Washington Peace Treaty last week, stated that almost irresistible forces were pushing Japan into the Pacific, and that the equilibrium had to be assured to avoid the danger of a struggle. The treaty assured it for ten years.
