The half-yearly meeting of the committee of the Addington Public Library was held last- Wednesday evening. The president. Mr E. Pnrlanc, was n the chair. The balance-sheet for the half-year showed the finances to he quite satisfactory, there being a credit balance of £7O Is lOd. The president mentioned the advisability of opening the library on Wednesday afternoons, as a large number of people from Ilalswell and surrounding districts would oe able to avail themselves of the advantage of the library. It was decided to 1 alter the rules in this direction and to enlist the services of lady members to act- as librarians on that day. The question of helping the fund towards supplying linoleum for the floor was discussed, and it was decided to hold a progressive euchre and dance in the <Selw \l n iStreet Hall on August -‘lO. Messrs L. Moffatt and T. J. Bit tie offered prizes towards the project. A social committee consisting nfMepsrs E. Parlane, E. Downing, W. Pickering, K. Mather, L. Brown and the secretary was. formed to arrange the function. Votes of thanks were passed to Miss B. Parlane for printing a poster for the library in connection with the linoleum fund, to Mrs Emmerson for a donation of eighteen hooks, anti to Messrs A. Weaver and E.
