Investigations by the committee of the Women’s Council, which is collecting evidence in favour of prohibition by systematically visiting the city wine bars, discovered that extensive drinking exists among women and girls. In one case sixteen bars were visited, and 126 women and girls found drinking. Many were intoxicated. Some had children in arms. Another visit to seven bars discovered seventy-two females, mostly girls.
