ALLEGED CORRUPTION.
REPLY TO MR CATTS. By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright Australian, and N.Z. Cable Association. SYDNEY, July 7. Mr J. Barley, a member of the Legislative Assembly and president of the central branch of the Australian Workers’ Union, categorically denies tlie accusations made by Mr J. H. Catts in the House of Representatives. He added that the books of the union were audited annually by tho beet auditors in Sydney, and never a penny of the union or Labour Party funds had been spent except in accordance with the rules and constitutions. Other Labour officiate describe the attack as emanating from ‘‘Coward’s Castle,” and say it would not bo made outside Parliament. In the House of Representatives, Mr J. H. Catts attacked the Labour Party administration, alleging widespread corruption in the movement and demanding a public inquiry. These allegations referred to the New South Wales Labour Party and covered chargee of corrupt balloting, engineering of Soviet propaganda, utilising corrupt money for electioneering purposes, maladministration of funds and others equally wide-reaching. Mr Catts, after being recently ex polled from the Labour Party, former! what is now known as the Majority Labour Party. t
