SECOND DAY’S EVENTS. RACING IN THE MUD. The winter meeting of the Canterbury Pork Trottinj? Club was concluded to-day in very unpleasant conditions. There were frequent showers of rain on Frid&y, followed by a downpour during: t.he night. There was. however, a slight improvement this morning, and it was decided to carry on. Under the circumstances, it was not surprising to find the attendance smaller than had been expected. Colenut then put in his claim and on reaching the straight he was just behind Peter King, who finished wide and iw,on by a length. Onyx was first into the straight, and she won easily by over two lengths from Paul Dufault. who finished fast and heat Indra by half a length, with Lord Lytton and Hayseed close up.
