At many of the annual meetings of the Christchurch Licensing Committee in the past the uolice have raised objections to the renewal of some licenses but during the last twelve months the hotels in Christchurch have, on the whole, been so weLl conducted that at tbe annual meeting of the committee to-day the police did not object to any renewal. Only one renewal was held over and that was because of the illness of the licensee. The President and executive of the Canterbury Justices’ Association invite all the newly appointed Justices to be present at ’ the Members’ Patriotic Social to be held in Jelliooe Hall, on Saturday night.
