YOUNG MAN DECLARED HABITUAL CRIMINAL. Alfred William Donaldson. 28 years of age. who appeared before his Honour Mr Justice Adams to-day for sentence for stealing an overcoat, has no fewer than five previous convictions for theft against him. On the fifth conviction, he was sentenced to six months’ imprisonment, and three years’ reformative treatment. He recently was released on probation. “ I cannot consider your case with any leniency.” his Honour said to tho prisoner. “ You will be. sentenced to eighteen months’ imprisonment with hard labour. and be declared an habitual criminal.”
