FIGHT ON IRISH BORDER.
TRUCE FOR REBELS, By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. LONDON. May 29. Fighting between Crown forces and Sinn Feiners on the border near Newry lasted over thirty hours but has now ceased. Many casualties were inflicted on both sides. The rebels failed to capture the police barracks and sought a truce, which was granted. Sinn Feiners kidnapped a number of loyalists at Petti gs Market on the Fermanagh border from which the loyalists are flcein T leaving everything behind them. MURDERS IN BELFAST. The campaign of murder continues in Belfast. Two policemen and a civilian were talking at the door of the barracks when three gunmen opened fire at fifteen yards range. A constable was hit in the stomach and the civilian was also wounded. Later Constable M’Gnrity was shot dead. Firing continued in the neighbourhood, two civilians being 1- died and several wounded. LONDONDERRY THREAT At a meeting of the Londonderry Corporation, the Mayor warned the British authorities and the Northern Government if the present policy ol driving out Nationalists from Northern Ireland and Londonderry continued they would burn the city to the ground. ______________________
