ST ALBANS V. CORINTHIANS

St Albans kicked off against Corinthians. The Whites led a brisk attack, and from a penalty drew first blood. St Albans letaliated, Kirk coming down the wing. M’Oscar saved at the expense of a corner, which corner was well cleared. Saints secured a corner from a free kick, which was cleared. Play hovered round the Saints’ goal. Dobbs punched out a close high shot by Allen. St Albans then bad a brisk attack. Kirk came along the goal line. but. slipped, and Flood repulsed. Perry held a hot drive by Allen. Flood repulsed a promising movement hr Kirk, a corner resulting. Midfield play followed until Pilling came through the centre, and Jewell kicked back for Dobbs to clear. Half-time came with the score:—

Corinthians 1; St Albans 0. Play recommenced with a. shower of rain. Corinthians first became dangerous. Khouri shot from close in, Dobbs made a partial clearance, and Donaldson received, but put behind. St Albans then became, aggressive, and Kirk from fast play forced a corner. Good headwork by Corinthians cleared. Saints received a chance from an easy position, but the movement was nullified by offside play. RANGERS V. VILLA. The ground at Linwood Park was a little on the soft side for fo-day’s match, hut the game was fast throughout. Villa kicked off. but from a run down the line by Liddon tbe ball went out. Lindley repulsed a, Villa attack, and at the other end Bissett put in a stinging shot which Andibert held. A smart Villa attack put Woodford under pressure. Rangers gave a corner, which was cleared. Villa was having the best of the* exchanges, but the forwards failed when near the goal Siddon slung across a smart, centre from tbe left. Bissett put. forward for Morley and BarweU to break away, the latter beating Andibert close in. Rangers 1. Villa 0. From the kick-off Villa was nearly through, but Aepinal repulsed and the ball went out to Liddon, who raced away and finished with a clinking shot which Audibert pushed out- Coming again Rangers went down the centre. Morley put to BarweU. who scored. Rangers 2, Villa 0. Half-time came with the score: Rangerfc 2; Villa 0. Rangers opened with a solid attack, and forced two corners which were cleared. Phelps and Soxnmerville carried play to the other end, but Korner repulsed, and from a nice centre by Liddon, Norman tapped the upright. Smart exchanges saw Villa attacking, a nice shot by flhaw just missing. Keeping up the pressure, Rangers forced a corner. Liddon placed perfectly, and Dowkor headed through. Rangers 3, Villa 0. SUNNYSIDE V. LYTTELTON. The above match wa* played on the Hospital ground in wet weather, making it very difficult for anything like a good display. The game was fairly even, but not exciting. Both teams were out. for a win. Lyttelton won the toss, and played with the wind. Thomas set the ball in motion. Taylor gathered the hall, and after a good run missed what appeared a certain goal. Shortly afterwards play went, to the visitors’ end. but Johnson saved a hot one from Thomas. Play surged up and down the field, with Thomas prominent. A hot. shot from this player struck the’ visitors’ goalie and rebounded into play, with Cook playing a splendid game. Half-time arrived with no score. Shortly after the kick-off Hales, for the visitors, kicked a splendid goal. Lyttelton 1, Sunnyside 0. Play was quickly returned to the visitors’ end, and who dribbled and dodged, beat two tacklers. During this attack one of the Lyttelton backs handled the ball in the penalty area and Lamont made no mistake with the kick. Sunnyside 1, Lyttelton 1. Shortly after this Courtney saved a. hot shot from M’Gill. Sunnyside gaining possession quickly carried the ball to the other end. where Thomas quickly added two more goals and Porter 1. The game terminated with the scores: SUNNYSIDE .... FOUR LYTTELTON . . - . ONE Mr Davey was the referee.

JUNIOR GAMES. SECOND GRADE. Playing at North Park. Excelsior defeated St Albans by 3 goals to 2 goals. For the winners, the scorers were J. Luke, G. P. J. O’Callaghan and J. O'Neill, and for the losers J. Carey (2). Air Tr.ustum was referee. THIRD GRADE. Playing at Hagley Park. Western 10 defeated St Albans 0. Mr Mitchell was replaying at North Park. Y.M.C.A. A defeated Spreydon by 5 goals to 2. For the winners the scorers were Norrie (4) and Smith (1). Mr Wardell was referee. CANTERBURY V. AUSTRALIA The training of the players from whom eth team will be selected to play against the Australians will commence at the Barracks on Monday, at 5.30 p.m.. under the supervision of Mr C. Reid.
