On Tuesday evening the Girls’ Friendly Society at Pliillipstown invited the Woolston branch and the members of the Hostel to a dance in the Parish Hall and a very enjoyable evening was spent. The hall was beautifully decorated for the occasion with streamers of mauve and gold, the society’s colours, and the electric light shades were of the same colours while the supper tables were decorated with mauve and gold chrysanthemums. During tho evening a waltzing competition was held, the winners being Aiiss Melba Afartin and Air A. Hope. Air J. Armitage and Aiiss Vera Coupland supplied the music for the dancing and Air G. Pickles acted as AI.C.
