RATEPAYERS' PROTEST. The agitation amongst the ratepayers of the counties of Amuri, Cheviot, Waipara, Ashley, Oxford, Kawhia and Rangiora, the borough of Rangiora and the township of Amberley to be removed from the Waimakariri Harbour Board’s rating area has now assumed a more definite form with the -ormation of a North Canterbury Ratepayers’ Protection League. The first step fo be taken by the league is to obtain a con uclered note for or against th# constructi *n of the proposed Kaiaf>oi bar harbour. To this end, voting papers will l*e issued shortly to all ratepayers in the areas affected. 011 the return of these papers a petition will be circulated in each county and borough hi support of an Act of Parliament, whereby the Waimakariri Harbour Board’s rating area may be reduced to its original boundaries, and excluding the protesting counties.
