The doctors are mystified over the reported brain disease. Some fear that it may bo due to eating bananas. The Southern Fruitgrowers Association is concerned in connection with the. latter theory, as the rumour has caused a slump in the banana trade. Of nine caees of children who have been admitted to the hospital with the mysterious brain disease, seven have proved fatal. The condition of one is most serious, but the other patient is likely to recover.
