SUBSIDY FOR LOCAL BODY EXPENDITURE. By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright Australian and N.Z. Cable Association. (Received May 19. 9.20 a.m.) SYDNEY. May 19. Tho Premier (Sir George Fuller) acceded to a request by a deputation of suburban mayors and presidents of shire councils that the Government should subsidise by a loan, on a £ for £ basis, a sum of £154,000, which local authorities intimated they were prepared to spend in providing work for returned soldiers. UNEMPLOYED DEMANDS. Demonstrations by unemployed will be held on Friday, when a demand will be made that tho Government* shall pay the living wage, or a subsistence wage, until they find work.
