BOWLING.

RANGIORA CLUB. The annual meeting of the bowling section of tho Ranjriora Bowling. Tennis an l o( 3* ,et Club was held last evening. Air » ■ F. Barton presided. The committee, in their report, congratulated tho club on another very successful season. There were forty-one members and with one or two exceptions, all had taken a greater interest in the club than in the past few years. A large number of junior members had been welcomed tc the section, some of whom showed promise of becoming really good bowlers. and should greatly strengthen the club in competition play. Reference was made to the loss by death of one of the clubs olde««l players, the late Mr J. W. Taylor: and pleasure was expressed at the return ol Mr W. Efford. after a two-years' absence in the Old Country, where he represented the club with the New Zealand touring team. The seasons play aod successes were referred to in detail, it being noted that the singles championship was won by Mr H. A. Archdall. the doubles by Messrs H. A. Archdall nnd R. Sinclair, and the rinks bv .Messrs J. M’Kenzie, C. I. Jennings, D. 3!'Kay and J. Gibbs Jordan. A juniors doubles was won by Messrs J. Wood and F. Tolmie. It was also stated that the club had the honour of holding ;he centre challenge shield during the season, the winners being a rink skipped by Mr G. Gibbs Jordan, and tbat a doubles tournament for prizes given by the club president, Mr P A. Webber was played, the winning skip Ijeinx Mr W. E. Barton and the lead Mr J. Mackenzie (Cost). The club's indebtedness tc Mr T. W. Ambrose for acting as representative on the centre, and to Mrs W. A. Bowse and her helpers for the very excellent. afternoon tea arrangements during the season was acknowledged. The report was adopted.

Hearty votes of thanks were passed 1< the Selection Committee. Messrs W. E Barton. W. A. Rows© and TT. A. Archdall to Mr Bowse for the very capablr way it which he had discharged the duties o secretary: and to Mrs Rows© and her as sistants for dispensing afternoon tea. It was resolved to instruct the delegate to the centre to suggest that an annuel match should be arranged Christchurch and suburban clubs versus Ashburton ant! Ellesmere Associations. North Canterbury Akaroa. Lyttelton. Sumner and.-' New Brighton Clubs. the associations to b« each represented by eight rinks. North Canterbury by eight, and the seaside clubi by two each. The first of a series of winter evening card socials was fixed for May 25. and Messrs Rharp. Ambrose. Rowse. tVebber nnd Sinclair were appointed a committe* to arrange detail*
