The French prisoners have been brought to Sydney as a result of legal action taken on their behalf, and a writ of habeas corpus will be applied for. If application fails both prisoners will be placed on the Pacifique. These two prisoners escaped from the French steamer El Kantara at Newcastle, but were later captured. They had been sentenced to transx>ortation for life to New Caledonia for military offences in France. One was a French airman, while the other is a Roumanian.
