ACCIDENTS & FATALITIES.
LITTLE GIRL SERIOUSLY INJURED. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, May 16. A shocking accident on tho wharf resulted in serious injuries to a little girl. Phyllis Dean, aged nine. A piece of steel, projecting from a lorry, caught her in the neck and crushed her against a shed, badly gashing her throat. Her condition is serious. A SEAMAN’S DEATH. Charles Clarke, a. fireman on the s.s. Whangape (now in Timaru) was admitted to ihe Christchurch Hospital last Friday in a semi-conscious condition, and died at 6a. in. on Sunday. There were no marks of violence on deceased, and death was probably duo to natural causes. Deceased. was attended ..t Lyttelton by Dr Gilmour. Clarke was a single man, a returned soldier, and a native of England. He is said to have a sister in Auckland. An inquest will bo held at the hospital this afternoon.
