MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
CHRISTCHURCH. TO-DAY’S CASES. (Before Mr. Wyvem Wilson, S.M.) TWO CHARGES. Charles John Frederick Malzard, who did not appear, was charged "\,‘h drunkenness and also with having cast offensive matter in a right-of-way. On the charge of drunkenness accused was fined 5s in default 24 hours' imprisonment and on the other charge 2()s in default seven days’ imprisonment. IN FOB MATI ON DISA l ISSED. Judgment was given by the Magistrate in the case in which William Bayliss (Mr. J. H. Uphara) nurseryman of 100 Jeffries Road, Bryndwyr, was charged by Alfred William Cawood (Mr. H. K. MeDougall) with a breach of the Fencing Act. Oomplairiant alleged that defendant had planted poplars on the boundary line between their properties without the written consent of complainant.
The Magistrate said that complainant’s case was not a strong one. The charge laid by complainant was in respect of three trees which he alleged had been planted within the last six months. The Magistrate added that after inspecting the trees he was quite satisfied that none had been planted within the last six months. The. information would therefore be dismissed, defendant was allowed costs. (Before Mr. H. Y. Widdowson, S.M.) JUVENILE CASE. A boy of thirteen years of age was charged with having broken a branch off a fl-owering cherry tree growing on the banks of River Avon. The boy, who said he wanted the branch with which to fish a bottle out of the river, was admonished and discharged.
