CHURCH UNION.

The Congregational Conference adopted the am "tided basis of doctrine drawn up by the Presbyterian Joint Committee on Church Union. The re port stated that the voting had resulted in 993 d in favour of Church union and 1524 against throughout the Commonwealth, representing 60 per cent of tho membership and 80.85 per cent of the effective membership. A resoluton was passed authorising the executive to take, the necessary steps, in conjunction wth other churches, for the consummation of the union, and recommending the State Uions to fpater the spirit of union by promoting 00-operation with the Presbyteran and Methodist Churches, as the precursor of a more comprehensive movement.
