WESTERN V. CORINTHIANS. Corinthians opened with three men short. Western, winning the toss, set them to play against wind and suu. Western were first dangerous, and forced a corner, which was cleared. Corinthians forced play hack, but Western returned, and Hoy, tricking Lee, drew first blood with a cross shot. Western 1, Corinthians 0. Western’s poor control of the ball nullified many promising movements, and Corinthians’ full quota, was now made up by three third grade players. Western went down the left, and Marshall, shooting from well out, beat Perry. Tho half-timo score Western 2, Corinthians 0. From the kick-off Corinthians attacked strongly. From a rally by Western Alarshall gained possession, and scored ail easy goal. Western 3, Corinthians 0. Despite tho high wind and sun. On resuming. Saints put in some pretty forward passing. Kirk on the left passed across to Colville, who put over the bar. Lyttelton then made a determined effort, and Hales got away down the centre, but shot wide. Bt Albans returned play, and Allan, receiving from Iho left wing, by a pretty piece of dribbling beat Rayner and M’Guiro and scored. St, Albans 5, Lyttelton 0. ferred to Hales, who put behind. Kirk put in a fine centre. Kelly receiving and scoring. From mid-field play St Albans came again and Allan scored from a pass by Colville. From give and take play, Herne received and put in a beautiful long shot, which gave tho goalie no chance. 8t Albans 9, Lyttelton 0. Lyttelton broke away and forced a oorner. Although some brilliant individual work was displayed by Lyttelton they lacked the combination of the Saints. Full time came with the score:—ST ALBANS .... NINE. LYTTELTON . . . NIL. These newly formed teams in the Canterbury Football Association’s senior competition met at Richmond Park to-day, and both sides put up a very creditable performance.
