The Prince’s four hours’ journey from Tokio to Nikko was a joyride through a cheering countryside. The entire population along the railway assembled at the stations to salute the train. At one point the Prince was so touched by the amazing outburst of enthusiasm that he alighted and walked among the gathering. Cheering is a recently acquired custom of the JapaneHe. but a London crowd could not on bio them. Nikko was brilliantly illuminated for the reception. The Prince is resting after a. strenuous time.
