MINISTERIAL. The Hon G. .T. Anderson will leave Wellington for the South Island this evening, visiting Rangiora to-morrow. Afterwards he will proceed to Dunedin and Otago Central on matters connected respectively with the Marine and Alines Departments. He is due back in Wellington about Sunday week. Mr Parr (Minister of Education) arrived at Blenheim yesterday from Kaikoura. He. received deputation#? in reference to Marlborough College, kindergarten, and hospital matters, and expressed pleasure with the Wairau hospital. He left the same day for Picton. Air P. L. Aitken. of Melbourne. has been appointed a Commissioner of tlia Supreme Court of New Zealand. Afr P. R. Sargood is leaving this week for England. He will return at the end of the year. Colonel James Campbell, of Sligo, Ireland, who has been trout fishing at Taupo for some weeks, returns to Ireland by tho Niagara. Air George Grieve, of “ Blackwood.” Southland, who came to Christchurch for the marriage of bis cousin, Atiss Winn if red Rowe, to Air Brodie Grant, returned home yesterday. Air F. R. Charman. a former student of Dr Hight, Canterbury College, and now of Knox College, Dunedin, has been elected a Fellow of the Royal Economic Society, London. 'The Rev A. Grant, for twenty-two years Presbvterian minister at Dannevirke, is applying to the next meeting of the Hawke’s Bay. Presbytery to have the pastoral tie betw'een himself and the congregation dissolved. Air Grant has had forty-six years’ service. Air P. J. Nolan, a journalist wellknown in New Zealand, is now' associated with “ Alusical America ” in New' York. Air Nolan has an article in a recent number on Albert Coates, one of the great English conductors, who is introducing many British works to America.

Air Justice Sim spent his Easter vacation in Dunedin. His Honor has been granted twelve months’ leave cf absence, beginning in the month of June, and after attending the ad-

journed sitting of the Appeal Court, which meets on April 24, lie will visit the Old Country, accompanied by Airs Sim, taking passage in the Ruahine. During Mr Justice Sim’s absence the work of the Supreme Court in the Otago circuit will be performed by one of the Judges resident in AVellington.

Air R. A. Collins and Airs AY. H. Collins and Aliss Collins left Ashburton yesterday en route to the Old World. They join the Aloeraki at Wellington for Sydney, w’here they will pick up the P. and O. steamer, the N alder aAirs R. A. Collins, who has been in Australia for the past irAnth, will join the Naldera at Fremantle. The party intend to visit the United Kingdom, France and Italy, and will probably return to New Zealand via South Africa about next December. Air V iiliam Aiulhollaud, a settler of forty years’ standing, died at Queenstown on Tuesdav. Deceased was born at Aden, County Derry, Ireland. While still in his ’teens he crossed, to Scotland and engaged in coal mining there. He sailed for New Zealand in 1873 in the ship Otago. Shortly after arrival he went to Wakatipu, where he found employment on the lake steamers, eventually becoming skipper of the Jane Williams (which was later renamed the Ben Lomond). After same years he went gold mining in the Shotover, und subsequently coal mining at Kaitangata.

The death is reported from Melbourne of Mr W. W. Crawford, comedian’ of the Vice-Regal Costume Comedy Company, and for many years a resident of Wellington and a wellknown amateur performer there. Before joining” up with the Vice-Regals (who were formerly known as tho New Zealand Diggers), Air Crawford was a departmental manager in Mr GSmith’s drapery establishment in Cuba Street, states the “ Dominion.’' Some three years ago he was induced to take to the stage professionally, and did very well as a character and eccentric comedian and dancer. He accompanied the Vice-Regals on their tour of New Zealand last winter. Air Crawford came to Wellington from Dunedin, and both there and in Wellington, secured many prizes in the elocutionary competition*.
