BOY SCOUTS’ ASSOCIATION.
DELEGATE FP.OM THE COUNCIL, A letter was read in the City Council last night from the Christchurch Boy Scout Local Association stating that, as the Boy fSccut movement was now managed bv citizens, it was necessary that- Till local bodies interested should have a. representative on the local association. The letter asked the council to nominate one of it-s members, to attend the first annual meeting of the association in April next. Councillor E. M/Combs asked what responsibility, financial or otherwise, the council would take in electing a representative. Councillor Flesher -replied that the council had never contributed anything. Councillor H. Hunter moved that Councillor F- It- Cooke should be the council’s representative. Councillor Cooke said that he would willingly teach the Boy Scouts, but it would not 1 e on militaristic lines. The motion was put and declared carried on the voices, but Councillor Cooke stoutly refused to accenr the position. tf This is a joke, he said. Councillor H. F.
