OTHER EXCHANGES. (Per Press Association.) AUCKLAND. March ,16. Sales on 'Change:—Bank of New Zealand, 48b; Waihi, 18s. Reported Sale: —RiveT Plate, 18s 6d. DUNEDIN, March 16. Sales on 'Change:—Mount Lyell, 13s 6d.. Tho dust on. the wing of a moth, when examined under a microscope, is found to consist of thousands of tiny scales. These scales give the colour to the butterfly’s wing, which without them is as transparent as that of a wasp or a bluebottle. They are laid on the wing in much the same way as the slates of a roof. Yet in spite of their exquisite shape and colouring, they are so tiny that the scales on the wings of a single butterfly would outnumber all the slates on the roofs of the houses of a good sized town. When one considers that each must he arranged according to its colour, one gets some idea of the wonders of the workmanship in the colouring of a butterfly's wing.
