PIGEON FLYING.
The Canterbury Pigeon Fl.vins: Club flew off their first young: bird race from Waikari on March 4. Two hundred and twelve birds were scot., representing: twenty-one owners. The birds were liberated by the stationmaHter at 1 p.tn.. in fine weather and a strong north-west wind, which enabled the birds to put up very fast times. Very little time divided the first ten lofts. The winner was Bandford and Rhodes's No. 480. which flew the distance of 39 miles I'2GO yards air lino in 40mi 11 42 sec.
