WHAT A COMBINE WOULD DO. (Received March 10, 11.15 a.m.) SYDNEY, March 10. The Merchant Service Guild has officially expressed its disapproval of the action of the Seamen’s TJnon respecting the Commonwealth Line steamers. It is pointed out that, if the line failed because chaos was brought about by the union, a combine would acquire the vessels and refuse to employ Australians uftder Australian conditions. Thus the great principles on which the line was founded would be jeopardised.
