The Mayor lias suggested that- all horse vehicles should be numbered and that a license should be required to take n horse into the central ward of the city. He said t6-day that horses necessitated frequent street-sweeping, and that licenses should be demanded from some horse vehicles as much as irom ice-cream stands. At present in case of a. collision between a horse vehicle and a motor-car, the driver of the horse vehicle could take the motorcar's number, but the driver of the motor-car could not take the horse vehicle’s number.
At a meeting held at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, some interesting facts and figures touching tl#e world-wide operations of this body for the rear 1920 were given by Mr IV. Rhodes Scragg. The denomination is working in 108 countries and operating over 600 missions throughout the world. There vei-e 6955 evangelist's preaching the Gospel in 123 languages. During 1920 they sent out 310 missionaries to foreign fields. . To support their work during this period approximately £3.000,000 was given bv their 185,450 members, working out at almost £l(3 per capita. They bad 1025 schools, academies and colleges, with an enrolment of 88,095. Adventists were staunch teachers of the doctrine of good health, and they operated thirty-three sanitariums where ever 27,000 oatients were treated In the year. In these institutions were 163 doctors and 2030 nurses and employees. Their literature work was a marked feature of their operationsThey had forty-five publishing houses, which were running at full continually. Their publications numbered 3155.
