The Shipwreck Relief Society has awarded a gold medal to J. Chalmers, tho hero of the Coogee shark tragedy (J. Chalmers, a returned soldier, went to tho rescue of Michael Coghlan, who was fatally attacked by a shark. Ho got Coghlan free from the shark and brought the injured amn ashore i with the assistance of Frank Beaurepaire, tho Australian champion.)
