N,Z. NAVAL FORCES.
NUMBER OF ENTRANTS. (Per Press Association.) WELLINGTON, February 17. The statistics in connection with recruiting for the New Zealand naval forces show marked differences in the number oi’ recruits who presented themselves for entry into tho New Zealand naval forces in the various recruiting districts. The total number was 304, and, as regards districts, Auckland head’s the list with eighty. Christchurch is shown with forty, Invercargill follows with thirty-two, I>unedin twenty-eight, Palmerston North twenty-six, and Haw-era twenty-two. In each of the remaining six districts less than twenty candidates presented themselves. In the Wellington district there were only fourteen. The number medically examined was 265, whilst eleven were rejected without medical examination, being under the physical standard. Of a total of 276 the number finally entered was 111. This gives a percentage of two out of five, or 40 per cent rejected on medical grounds. The remaining twentyeight were rejected on other grounds.
