Pourparlers between France and Britain in reference to the Near East have so far progressed that Lord (Uurscon has submitted a Note stating the British conditions. It is understood that the evacuation of Smyrna is admitted with adequate guarantees for the Christian minorities, including the appointment of a Christian GovernorGeneral and modification of the Thracian frontier, which, it is suggested, shall follow a lino slightly south of Midia on the Black Sea via Chorlu, ending at Rodosto. (Received January 25, 9 a.m.) PARIS, January 24. The “-Echo de Paris ” foreseen no difficulty in arranging a formula with regard to Tangiers. The only point- requiring settlement over the Angora Treaty was that of intervention between the Greeks and Turks before hostilities were resumed. “Britain desires certain energetic measures which France is not disposed to adopt. There is almost agreement between Britain and France to give Turkey possession of Anatolia and special guarantees are heing laid down for the Greeks at Smyrna. The only real difficulty concerns the Thracian frontier, in respect to which Britain proposes the MidinRodosto lino and Franco the EnosAlidia frontier.
