Mr A. E. Ford, traffic superintendent of the Adelaide tramways system, le to be offered the position of traffic manager to the Auckland city tramways. There were sixtv applications for the position, which carries a salary of £7HO annum. Thai Mr W. W. Charters has been a itiember of the Canterbury Industrial Association for forty-three years, and its honorary treasurer for twenty-five vears, was referred to at the association's annual meeting last night. Mr Charters’b services to the association were eulogistically referred to. Mr W. J. Jenkin was presented with life membership of the Canterbury Industrial Association at the association’s annual meeting last night. Mr 11. Bradley, who moved the motion, said the association would be honoured by Mr tfehkin’s acceptance of life membership. Ab their president he had worked untiringly and most successfully in their interests. Mr I. Woolf seconded the motion, saying that he considered it reflected the genuine desire of all members of the association. Replying, Mr Jenkin said that one of the toughest tasks ho had had to perform on the association’s behalf was in connection with the Customs tariff. Mr H. B. ‘ Best mentioned that life membership had been conferred upon only three other members of the association.
