ADDINGTON YARDS.
METRO POL IT AM MARKET, TO-DAY’S SALE. There was another very satisfactory la.mb sale at the Metropolitan weekly market at Adding-ton to-day, and taken all round bettor prices were obtained than last week. A larger yarding of fat oattle was forward than at the previous sale and prices showed a tendency to ease. Tho yarding of fat sheep was a email one and the general quality was indifferent. FAT CATTLE. There was a larger yarding of fat cattle forward than last week, when 245 were penned. The entry included a good many prime quality cattle. As a, result of the larger yarding prices showed a tendency u '. ease «* compared with the better prices of last week, which were primarily duo to the short entry. Bidding at the start was rather slack and several passings were made. I’AT LAMBS A large yarding of lambs met with a keen demand, and from the vendor s point Vle , w the s ? ls was considerably better than last week. There was a full rin~ of freezing buyers, and possibly because o< the recent rise in Jamb prices on the London market they were prepared to bid freely and pay good prices. Tho g-eueral price paid by exporters was a good 7.R1 per lb, compared with 6Jd last week. In some cases up to Tjjd was paid by exporters, who secured the bulk of the yard nag. Values were:— Extra prime lambs, 24s 3d to 2Sa Id. Prime lambs, 21s 6d to 245. Medium lambs, 17s 9d to*2ls. Inferior lambs, 14s 8d to 37s Gd. The following were some of tile best sales:— On account of W. Beal (East Eyrcton), 9 at 23js id: D. Humrn (Sheffield), 12 at -7s 6d; J. C. Clarkson (Riocartou). 9 at ‘-os to 27s 3d: IY. Strange (Tinwald), 51 at 24s 9d to 27s 3d: H. A. Ivl’Kcnzie (Waipava), 340 at 21s 13 d to 27s Idj client, 45 at 23s lOd to 275: Ivor M’Gill (Southbridge), it at 275; estate It. L. Williams (Irwell), 56 at 23s 5d to 275. FAT SHEEP. There were, between seven and eight races of fat sheep forward,, about two lees than last week. There were few lines of really good sheep entered, the average quality being very ordinary. The sale opened briskly and prices at the start were rather too high for export buyers. STORE SHEEP. Thero was a very big yarding of Btore sheep, consisting mostly of lambs. The demand was particularly keen right throughout the sale. This demand was unsatisfied with the result (hat lambs were making more at the close of the sale than at the beginning. The whole entry was cleared. Lamb prices were distinctly better than last week, up to 108 lid being paid for them. Adult sheep also sold with more freedom. Values were:— Forward lambs. 14g to 15s 1 Id. Ordinary lambs, 30s 6d to 13s 6d. Small and inferior lambs, 6s 9d to 10a. Cull lambs, 3s lid to 6s 6d. Two-tooth ewes, 33s 4d to 13s 7d. Four and six-tooth ewes, 12s 4d. Two and four-tooth wethers. 9s 7d to 11s 9d. Inferior two and four-tooth wethers, 7s 21 to Ps Gd.
Cull wethers, 6s Id to Gs Bd. BTORE CATTLE. There was a small entry of store cattle, consisting of odd lots. Practically the whole entry was cleared, but, on account of the small yarding only nominal values can he quoted. Values were: Two-year-old steers, to £2 ss. Yearling steers, 25s to 336 6d. Two-year-old heifers, £3 10s to £4 2s Gd Yearling heifers. 35s to 42s 6d. Medium cows. 24s to 2Ps Gd. Aged and inferior cows, 10a to 3Gs. PIGS. The entries of fat and store pigs were not very large. Fat pigs sold at somewhat better prices than last week.
