M; Poincare held his first council todav. Later he bad a long conversation with Lord Curzon . covering the Genoa conference, the proposed new Belgian and French pacts, reparations and questions appertaining to the Near East. It is understood that M. Poincare demands that each question shall be considered separately. STEP TOWARDS WAR. PARIS, January 17. Deputy Henneasy writing in “ L*Oeurre ” says: “Whether M. Pomcare likes it or dislike* it the sound his name evokes is that tbe murderous guns of another war in Europe are being prepared, which France- according te the foreign policy she adopts, may still postpone, avert or precipitate. MPoincare’s accession mokes another decisive step towards a new war.”
