The Reparation Commission has valued the vessels delivered by Germany up to Mav 1, in application of Annex 111. to Part VIII. of the Treats - of Versailles, at 745,000,000 gold marks (£37,260,000), states tie “ Shipping World." Certain costs for delivery, repairs and improvements axe not recoverable, and hire accounts must be deducted from this sum, and the balance will be credited to Germany. The gross tonnage of these boats is as follows Paßsengei vespefs, 611.327; cargo vessels, 1,452,191; sailing vessels. 80,140; fishing boats, 2719—a total of 2,153,407. The value set on the tonnage works out at about £lB Per ton—a generous estimate. The Matakana is due in port to-tinorrovr morning from Wellington. The Ngatoro leaves Lyttelton this evening for Greymouth. where she will load for Wellineton. The M.aheno. which cleared Sydney on Wednesday, is due to arrive at Wellington on Sunday. The Teasel is bringing 836 passengers, and 1* timed to sail on the return voyage on Wednesday morning. Advice has been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company that the Whnkatane, which lert New York for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, Port Chalmers, Melbourne and Sydney on November 4, cleared Panama on November 13. Tbe vessel is due at Auckland about I December 11. I The Hong Kong and Whampoa Dock Company, Ltd., launched on September 24 the first oil tanker built In China—the 8490-ton steamer Paludina, to the order of the Anglo-Saxon Petroleum Company, Ltd. The Wahine will bring a large consignment of fruit, ex Tahiti, on Tuesday. The Canopus is due to-morrow night from Westport with coal.
