SUMMIT ROAD RESERVES.

1 government to control. It is understood that the whole of the Summit roads, reserves and resthouses are about to be vested entirely in Government, which will (administer them through the present Scenic Reserves Board, of which the Commissioner of Crown Bands is ex officio chairman. An official statement is not yet forthcoming in the matter, but it is believed that legislative authority will be taken for the change. An adjustment of the finances will be proposed, which will be satisfactory to all parties concerned. Under it. any surplus revenue will bo applied to the* extinction of present liabilities, which will be guaranteed by the Government. The whole control of the roads and rest-houses will therefore be a Government matter.
